The Catholic Association of Goa (CAG) was established in the year 1988 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. This Association represents the Catholic laity in Goa. This Association is a non-political body and it endeavours to represent and strengthen the Catholic Community in the socio-religious, political, and economic fields.

The Catholic Association of Goa is affiliated to the ALL INDIA CATHOLIC UNION (AICU) through which it has access at the national level. ” It has a well set up constitution approved by the Archbishop. It is a lay organization of the archdiocese of Goa with set aims & objectives. The primary one of which is β€œTo promote a sense of unity and solidarity among the Catholics of the Archdiocese.

CAG becomes even more meaningful as it has a National recognition through the All-India Catholic Union. It is in this context that a problem faced by a parish by way of an external threat, which is indeed becoming more prevalent today, will not be a problem of that parish alone but one that the Association would deal with as a problem of our diocese.
